Who will be teaching at Sri Sri University?The core faculty of the university comprises a team of highly qualified academicians and doctorates with industry experience and a strong background in ethical values, suited to impart a holistic education. The faculty at Sri Sri University is deeply involved with the students, acting as mentors and guides to facilitate a richer learning experience at the individual level. The core faculty is spearheaded by Dr. K. C. Mishra, Vice Chancellor and Dean, Faculty of Management Studies. Dr. Kailash Chandra Mishra Vice-Chancellor and Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Sri Sri University Dr.Mishra holds an M.Sc in Physics, CAIIB, MBA and D.Litt with a post-doctoral education at Wharton’s Aresty Business School, Philadelphia. He has authored more than 14 books on insurance and financial management. He has lectured at Harvard, Columbia and Yale; Wharton ; Connecticut University and Manchester University, held top posts at S.P.Jain Institute of Management and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management. The Faculty of Management Studies is led by Dr.Srinivas Subbarao Pasumarthi. Dr.Srinivas holds a D.Litt from Berhampur University, Ph.D from Nagpur University, an FDPM from IIM, Ahmedabad; M.Phil, Nagpur University and MBA from Andhra University. He also holds an M.Sc (Psychology), L.L.M.(Corproate and Security Law), and M.H.R.M. from Acharya Nagarjuna University as well as an MA (Public Administration), and M.Com from Andhra University.
How are placements at Sri Sri University?The Campus Recruitment Program at Sri Sri University is a collaborative process between students and the management. Students actively participate in the interaction with organizations while the management plays an active role in grooming students to become corporate-ready. The curriculum includes value-added workshops to inculcate life skills of vision, passion, innovation, risk-taking capacity, entrepreneurship skills, confidence, team building, zeal for learning and the ability to accept criticism. Sri Sri University successfully concluded the final round of placements for the first batch of MBA students (2012-2014) , 49 companies came to campus to create 229 placement opportunities for 46 students, on an average creating five opportunities for each student. The campus recruitment program is in full swing for the second batch of MBA students (2013-2015). Sri Sri University has maintained a record of 100 per cent Summer Placements for both batches of MBA students.
More FAQsQ. Do I need to have work experience to join the program?
Work experience is not compulsory. The program is suitable for graduates or career professionals from any field including pure sciences, engineering, maths, social sciences, business and economics.
Q. I have just graduated with my first degree – will you consider me?
Admission may be granted to candidates without work experience, who present superior academic credentials and truly outstanding evidence of leadership through professional and personal experiences. We insist on students having good graduate experience as our collaborative style of learning from the diversity and excellence of peers is a key feature of our MBA Program. If you have just graduated or about to be graduated we may admit you as we provide a strong foundation program in the beginning. You must also make efforts to equal with others before joining the program.
Q. What are the eligibility criteria to apply for the program?
Candidates need to hold a Bachelor’s degree in any stream with at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent CGPA.
Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
Every candidate will be required to produce graduation/provisional graduation certificate before admission.
Scores of management aptitude tests like CAT, XAT, GMAT, CMAT or any equivalent test score will be considered

Q. What are the objectives of the MBA program at SSU?
The principal objectives of SSU-FMS MBA are:
To create cheerful personalities and real educated people
To help participants develop as ethical leaders
To build participants’ global business capabilities
To help participants, and therefore the institutions that employ them, to extend and enhance their managerial effectiveness.
The program aims to achieve these objectives by providing a strong foundation in the disciplines and functions of management to develop a broad range of knowledge and business skills. The program provides you with the opportunity to follow areas of interest in depth through the self-audit and elective portfolio.
Particular emphasis is laid on helping students develop spiritual intelligence, personal management, career and leadership skills required for successful managers.
Q. Could you briefly describe the academic calendar?
The program begins in July each year with a short induction period as well as the Art of Living module. This is followed by three trimesters and a Summer Internship Period to complete first year, there are three trimesters followed by placement and capstone project in the second year.
In addition, a number of self-audits and electives run during trimesters. Students are also required to complete a range of exams, assignments and project work over the trimester. The vacations are time for consolidation, preparation and project work, as well as completing summer internship projects.
A soft skill course styled as the Assessment and Development of Leadership and Outreach Potential (ADLOP) runs through both academic years to develop the leadership qualities of enthusiasm, trust, communication, image building and harnessing the big picture in life.
Q. What is the purpose of the compulsory courses?
The compulsory courses are the key elements of the program. They cover all the key management disciplines and functions and serve as a foundation for self-audit and elective courses and a preparation for the summer internship and capstone projects.
The compulsory courses are usually taught in three-hour periods (including a short intermission) once a week for 10 weeks.
The compulsory courses begin with a module, which introduces you to issues and concerns in global general management. The rest of the compulsory courses cover different business functions and disciplines, with care taken to help you make the link between the different perspectives covered. The courses are sequenced so that there is a logical progression between subjects, preparing you for summer internship interviews.
Q. Do I have to study a language?
English will be the medium of instruction. A language laboratory will be provided to improve your English communication skills. There will be facilitation for self-study in other national and international languages necessary for doing business in India and internationally. But these are student-driven efforts outside mainstream academics.
Q. What are electives and self-audits?
As well as completing the compulsory courses, you must select classes from the elective portfolio. There are many electives drawn from a wide variety of subject areas. By the time you graduate, you must have completed eleven electives. Self-audit courses offer the opportunity to work on projects that challenges you to analyse and resolve complex business problems using the business skills, frameworks and tools acquired thus far in the program. It is self-audit because you choose the subject, as well as the faculty within or outside SSU-FMS, get it evaluated by a facilitator of your choice but the quality of your self-audit will be noted by SSU-FMS for credit purpose.
Q. How are the elective and self-audit courses structured?
You will be asked to choose your second-year electives towards the end of the first-year summer term, and to confirm (or change) these choices before you return to SSU-FMS at the beginning of the second year. There will be restrictions on choice based on the number of students opting for the electives.
You can choose any electives from the available portfolio, for example by subject area or to support your planned career path. You can make changes to your options within agreed deadlines throughout the second year to allow you to react to your experiences and tailor your study accordingly through self-audits.
You can create a formal specialisation by opting to follow an elective concentration; a major with six electives and a minor with five.
Electives are usually taught in three-hour lessons once a week, over 10 weeks. There are also a number of intensive week-long or week-end electives that are taught, as well as evening classes that are delivered as workshops, seminars, colloquium, outdoor management, management games and structured learning or any other technology -driven methods of learning.
Q. What kind of group work is involved in the program?
In the first year you will join a study group of six or seven people who you work with throughout the year. The group will be a microcosm of the class, combining a diversity of students and different professional and undergraduate backgrounds.
In the second year, you will have the chance to form your own groups, choosing partners from across programs, which are coherent and pragmatic.
Successful group-working is at the heart of the SSU-FMS experience. There is plenty of emphasis on techniques for successful group work in SSU-FMS and through the various skill courses. The entire ADLOP program runs through groups and committees.
Q. How is the program assessed?
We have a duty to students to maintain the integrity and standard of the degrees we award through a rigorous assessment system. However, the purpose of the various assignments and examinations we ask you to complete is not simply for assessment. They are also intended to help you to structure your learning and provide you with feedback to help you gauge your progress through the program. The assessment system makes use of the following elements:
Internal course assignments and class participation
Tests at trimester end
You must also demonstrate competence in communication to qualify for the degree.
You must complete all the specified credits to qualify for the degree, pass all courses compulsorily assigned to you or opted by you subject to acceptance of SSU-FMS. Carrying of failed course level to still qualify for the degree will be the discretion of SSU-FMS.
You will be expected to prepare for and attend class and participate actively in discussion in class and in your group. The precise assessment model for each course – for example whether class participation and oral report presentations count towards your final grade – will be set out clearly from the outset. Failure to qualify for attendance will result in your loss of eligibility for the degree or even sitting for trimester end test. Failure to pay fees and levies in time will also result in disqualification for sitting in test or earning the degree.
Q. Do students have an opportunity to learn about the external projects and research activities?
Yes. Many faculty studies and research activities are brought into the class in the form of case studies. Faculty members frequently share their latest thinking in their electives as well as through additional lectures. A small number of students may also have the opportunity to work on a research project with a member of faculty as one of their electives.
Q. How accessible are the faculty to the students? The teaching faculty are there to support you through your MBA journey and are available outside class times to discuss academic issues. Students will also have an opportunity to interact more closely with faculty through their involvement in the ADLOP facilitation.
Q. Does the teaching have a practical orientation?
As well as pursuing research in their own fields of interest, members of faculty also act as think-tank of businesses. These activities help maintain the practical relevance of the teaching and research.
Q. What if the form of teaching applied at SSU-FMS?
Most of the teaching takes the form of structured lectures and case studies. The style is participatory and classes frequently include case analysis and discussions. There are also many projects and group work, field investigations and visits, as well as individual research and simulations including management games. There is a global leadership lecture series to augment classroom knowledge by inviting leaders of the corporate and allied worlds that influence the environment at large.
Q. How many hours a week will I need to study?
You will usually take seven courses per trimester plus ADLOP exposure. Typically these will involve a weekly three-hour class, resulting in an average of 21 classroom hours per week. You can expect to spend at least the same amount of time in private study, group meetings and group work. This will be augmented by ADLOP and Global leadership lecture series plus your self-audit work, which is largely self-paced.
It’s impractical to try to take on any paid employment during the program and is as such not permitted.
Q. Do I need a computer?
You must have access to a laptop. We strongly recommend that you buy a laptop (notebook) that fits SSU-FMS configuration specifications. A detailed PC specification will be sent to you once you have been offered a place on the program. We also have a wireless LAN in SSU-FMS, enabling students to work in and around the campus. The computer lab with desktops are available for lab work as per regulatory specifications
Q. Do I need to buy books and study materials?
The library provides you with course books, journals, references but on quota basis. With mutual cooperation and group work, this should be adequate for planning your studies. But it is left to students to privately own their books. It is advisable to buy some compulsory texts and you will probably want to buy additional books to help you read around the subject even after completion of the program, particularly in your work life. It may be necessary to procure your own case studies due to intellectual property considerations though SSU-FMS generated study materials will be available to you within your course fee.
