M.A. - Journalism and Mass Communication

Journalism is an arena favored by individuals who are inquisitive and are willing to penetrate into less known facts that need to be expressed with an element of social responsibility unlike the mundane daily grind of a conventional job. It is rare that you can find an option that keeps you aware of your society in the process of work. Sri Sri University is starting the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication w.e.f. academic session 2016-17 as there is need for the socially committed and professionally skillful media professionals in the country.

Course Details

The Mass Media scenario in the world in general and in India in particular has been undergoing revolutionary changes over the years. Many factors like technology, political, socio and economic changes are responsible for this transformation of mass media in the country. Education and training in media and journalism in India needs to incorporate these changes so as to prepare our students to take on the new challenges. Keeping all these developments in mind, the Masters program in Journalism and Mass Communication has been started. The curriculum of this program has been designed in such a way that it will develop students’ critical thinking abilities and practical skills that will enable them to take up media-related positions in the changing media environment. They will learn emerging communication technologies, develop multi-tasking skills required in the dynamic multi-media and convergent environment, and are ready for communication research and teaching. There is option for exiting out after one year study with Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication.
