Foundation Course in English and Yoga

The five-month Foundation Course in English and Yoga for International students is designed to provide basic knowledge on the English language (written and communication) and the fundamentals of Yoga.  The intensive-programme is a perfect all-round preparation for academic study at any further chosen programmes at the University or other institutions.

Eligibility:

  • Age limit is 18 to 45
  • English level should not be bellow Basic
  • The final admission is only after an interview
  • English level evaluating test is compulsory before being admitted to the course. The standard of evaluation is as per CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

After completion of the Foundation Course in English and Yoga, students will be able to:

  • Listen and understand extended speech and lectures and follow even complex lines of argument, provided the topic is reasonably familiar
  • Listen and understand most TV news and current affairs programmes
  • Listen and understand the majority of films in standard dialect
  • Read articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints
  • Read and understand contemporary literary prose
  • Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible
  • Take an active part in discussion in familiar contexts, accounting for and sustaining their views
  • Present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects related to their field of interest
  • Explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options
  • Write clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects related to their interests
  • Write an essay or report, passing on information or giving reasons in support of or against a particular point of view
  • Write letters highlighting the personal significance of events and experiences
  • Gain an understanding and appreciation for the myriad forms of yoga that exist
  • Become knowledgeable about the proper practice of yoga and the benefits it offers
  • Gain a knowledge and appreciation for the historical background of yoga
  • Be able to comfortably and properly execute the postures practiced in class, which could translate/encourage students to create a continuing practice on their own
  • Practice simple Yoga asanas, breathing practices, meditation.
