Special Convocation (20 September)

The Special Convocation on 20 September in the presence of Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was organized to confer the Honorary Doctorate- Honoris Causa upon Mr. Herman De Croo. The event opened with recitation of shlokas, lighting of the lamp and ‘Saraswati Vandana’.Our VC Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh welcomed Poojya Gurudev, Chief Guests, Guests of Honour, dignitaries, faculty and students for gracing the Special Convocation. Our Guest of Honour Mr. Peter Cooper, Chairman, Cooper Investors in his address specified that the University has a lot to offer as it believes in an integrated system where the ancient wisdom combines with modern science.
Thereafter, the Honorary Doctorate-Honoris Causa was conferred upon Mr. Herman De Croo, the longest serving Belgian Member of Parliament. Mr. Herman De Croo, in his acceptance speech said, “The University has a great destiny, as it instills in students the spirit of service which is crucial to become future leaders”
Our President Rajita Bagga said, “The most important aspect that defines the University is our continuous endeavour to bring the best of the world to Odisha and take the best of Odisha to the world.”
Chief Guest, Shri Dibya Shankar Mishra,Hon’ble MoS(Govt. of Odisha) Energy,MSME, Home(S) highlighted that SriSri University has been made with pure human effort and sets a beautiful example on how Gurudev’s vision has translated into reality.
Poojya Gurudev at the Special Convocation said, “The experience of wise men and great leaders is a treasure for all to hold in their hearts and keep in their minds. These inspirational icons are a guiding light for the youth of today.” The University also launched two research centres- Sri Sri Advance Global Centre for Conflict Resolution & Peace Studies and Sri Sri Advance Global Centre for Indigenous Studies in the presence of Poojya Gurudev at the Special Convocation.
The University, in association with start-up Odisha also launched a two-week acceleration program for early stage startups in the presence of Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the Special Convocation.

SHILANYAAS-Foundation stone laying ceremony of the SSACRH-SSU (21 September)

The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony (Shilanyaas) of Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research Hospital, Sri Sri University was held on 21 September, 2019. The Foundation was laid by Chief Guest, Hon’ble chief minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik and Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The Hon’ble chief minister at the Foundation stone laying ceremony said, “Ayurveda is a new trend in the West & is indicative of a better future in a global landscape. The 300- bedded hospital will be beneficial for all.”

Poojya Gurudev, addressing the audience said, “Ayurveda has a deep foundation that goes back thousands of years in our history. It has not only survived but thrived, standing the test of time. The University has turned into an oasis of knowledge, wisdom and happiness. The Ayurveda College& Hospital will emerge as a centre of excellence for the world.”

INTEGRATED HEALTH SUMMIT- 21 SEPTEMBER

The Integrated Health Summit was a conglomeration of specialists from all fields of medical sciences~ Allopathy, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Yoga and Osteopathy sharing their views on the integrated medical system in the presence of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The event began with esteemed guests joining in for the lighting of the lamp and an introduction on the Art of Living, Sri Sri University and Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research Hospital.

Poojya Gurudeva at the Integrated Health Summit said, “An integrated system is the need of the hour. The behavioral pattern, state of mind and mediation should be a part of our everyday life.”

Our President, Rajita Bagga in her opening address emphasized that good health is the foundation to achieve inner peace and well being. Hon’ble Keynote Speaker, Padma Shri Bharat Bhushan at the Integrated Health Summit said, “A student must master all skills of his area of study, but continue to remain a seeker and apply yogic philosophy in everyday life.” Hon’ble Keynote Speaker, Shri Naba Kisore Das, Minister of Health and Family Welfare said,”Our power as a nation lies in our culture.We must include practise of Yoga, pranayama, uphold principles of Ayurveda in our day-to-day lives.” Hon’ble Keynote Speaker, Dr. Ramesh Bhatt, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research Hospital, Bangalore elaborated the achievements and framework that the hospital adopts and its vision.

The Summit concluded with a panel discussion on ‘Importance of Conventional/Traditional Treatment in Integrated Health’ with keynote speakers Dr. Ramesh Bhatt, Ayurvedic Practitioner ,Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research Hospital, Bangalore, India, Dr. N.C Dash, Former Principal, G.A.M Puri, Dr. V.C Ramachandran, Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals, Kukatpally, Padma Shri Bharat Bhushan, Founder. Mokshayatan International Yogashram, Dr. Girdhar Gyani, Director General, Association of Healthcare Providers (India), Prof. B. R Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Health and Wellness, SSU, Mr. Juan Guillon,HoD, Department of Osteopathy.
