Dr. Nandini Tandon, is a venture capitalist for past 17 years in Silicon Valley, presently  engaged in investing in transformational ventures, in win-win model between USA and  India, to serve entirety of the social pyramid, with special emphasis on the bottom of the  pyramid. 

Dr. Tandon was Managing Director, Lumira-MDS Capital in Palo Alto with 1.2 billion USD  under management and before was Partner, RBC Capital Partners, in San Francisco, and  was responsible for opening and establishing both the offices. 

As a venture capitalist Nandini made 12 investments in life saving breakthrough  technologies with 11 exits, 9 being acquired by market leaders such as Pfizer, Gilead,  Amgen, General Electric and 2 companies following IPO route. 

In 2015 Dr. Tandon received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) for her  contribution in healthcare- IT. In 2016 she won the UP Ratna award in India and in 2017  Women of Excellence Award in USA. 

Nandini is very engaged in building partnerships between USA and India, is board member  of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute and Co-Chair of its Bay Area-Silicon Valley-India  Focus, was co-chair Healthcare delegation of Mayor of San Francisco to India, under the  SF-Bangalore Sister City initiative and is on its board. She was Vice Chairman and Board  Member, for world’s most technologically advanced hospital, El Camino Hospital (ECH),  Silicon Valley, California. She has been on the boards of hospitals in USA, UK and Middle  east. 

Nandini is committed to entrepreneurship, was a USA delegate-speaker for Global  Entrepreneurship Summit in Hague and Hyderabad under President Trump and was  delegate-speaker to Turkey and Dubai, under President Obama’s leadership. She  Chaired,”20/20 Vision: Investing in USA & Emerging Markets” at Stanford University, was  Board Member, University of California, Berkeley, Center for Emerging and Neglected Diseases; Board Member, C21 BioVentures; and has been on 14 for profit boards and 15 not  for profit board.  

Prior to being a venture capitalist, she was Chief Business Officer for Zyomyx Inc., Vice  President of Business Development for Hyseq Inc., and held several positions at biotech and  pharma leaders such as Chiron Corp. and GlaxoWellcome respectively. Nandini has spoken  globally and extensively on entrepreneurship, venture capital, innovation, healthcare with  special emphasis on women’s empowerment in leadership, entrepreneurship and role in  technology (Selected Speaking role is attached)

A White House Intern, Nandini received Ph.D. in biochemistry, Phi Lambda Upsilon from  Duke University, North Carolina and B.A. cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Hollins University,  Virginia. She holds a global patent in semiconductor from Microelectronic Center of North  Carolina, RTP, NC.  

Dr. Tandon is married and lives in Silicon Valley, California with her husband and their son.
