Agriculture education programs administered at the university aims to create knowledge banks and skilled professionals who would contribute to growth farming sector by serving the farming community, engage in innovations to benefit the farming sector, become progressive practitioners of farming, create agri-based start-up companies to promote agri-business. Likewise, to train our students as innovators of technologies and/or provider services to agriculture sector or serve the government at various capacities to promote agriculture.

Mission:

  1. To build faculty and team of inter-disciplinary expertise to address comprehensive education in agriculture
  2. To develop tools and cutting-edge-technologies for crop management to relevant to enhance the productivity of agricultural crops
  3. To develop pro-farmer outreach programs– scientist-farmer forums, farmer cooperatives, forward market linkages, certificate courses, ICT-based user-friendly mobile-based app., building interactive knowledge base on agricultural practices, etc
  4. To build a ‘Centre of Regenerative Agriculture and Sustainable Technologies’ on the principles of natural farming
  5. Develop an ‘Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Technology’ as a Centre of Excellence

Course curriculum:
As per 6th Deans Committee Recommendations, BoS and AC approval, NEP 2020 will be implemented from AY 2024-25.

Uniqueness of pedagogy: We have consciously integrated experiential learning, exposure visits to fields and/or institutions in all our courses offered in each semester. Besides, student seminar, internship, participation in entrepreneurship ideation and training to build professional competency in our students.

Counselling and Emotional Intelligence: Our philosophy to engage with students to understand their limitations through parent-faculty forum on regular basis has been part of pedagogy to enhance the emotional intelligence of our students through spiritual interventions and counselling sessions. We have benchmarked such practices to ensure students participation in learning is effective with visible student satisfaction.

We promote academic excellence through recruiting meritorious faculty members, creation and upgradation of infrastructure, facilities, student mentoring with facilitative promotion of comradery learning environment.

Likewise, to train our students as innovators of technologies and/or provider services to agriculture sector or serve the government at various capacities to promote agriculture.

The teaching-learning philosophy involves rigorous exposure to theoretical concepts and experiential learning at various levels with innovative and focused teaching approaches, faculty-student bonding, enabled counselling to poor-learners, agri-industry exposure internship. The spiritually enabled environment of the university also provides overall personality development while creating skilled human resources to serve agriculture sector.
Students undergo experiential learning program (ELP) through placement with the farmers under the RAWE program (Rural Agricultural Work Experience).
Student Internship program with institutions/industry/NGOs to provide specific training to build professional competency.
Provision for Hands on Training (HOT) and Agro-Industrial Attachment (AIA) program.
Student study tours to agricultural education and research institutions/universities/private organizations.

  • Admissions Open for 2024-25 | Limited Seats | Apply Here 

  • Students participated in Rural Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE) for 45 days as part of Student Ready Program. Students were attached with farmers to learn farming practices, grassroots entrepreneurs and share scientific knowledge through extension principles.

  • It is a pleasant feeling to see and interact with our students virtually after 3.5 months. We, university, have begun the on-line teaching-learning process. We are happy to see the sustained attendance of 95% of students in virtual class room.

  • Students were awarded 1st & 2nd prize in ‘ANVESHAN 2020’, East Zone Student Research program,Jadhavpur University. They are also headed to the finals for National level competition.

  • Students were adjudged winners of inter-university competition as part of Krushi-Odisha 2020. We encourage the students to participate in competitions to realize their potential talents and provide organic growth of their inter-personal skills.
