1. Introduction

The Faculty of Eastern Knowledge Systems (FEKS) is envisioned as a premier academic
and research faculty at Sri Sri University are dedicated to the systematic study,
documentation, interpretation, and contemporary application of Indian and Eastern
Knowledge Systems. The initiative is founded on the academic principle that knowledge
can be taught, researched, and transmitted, while wisdom emerges through engagement
and lived experience.
Anchored in the classical frameworks of Chaturdaśa Vidyāsthānam (14 Knowledge
Domains) and Chauṣaṭh Kalā (64 Applied Arts), FEKS seeks to restore civilizational
knowledge through modern academic structures. The Faculty will adopt a top-down
academic strategy, prioritising PhD and Post-Doctoral research, followed by certificate
and micro-credit programs. Degree programs will be introduced in later phases.

2. Background and Rationale

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 strongly advocates the integration of Indian
Knowledge Systems in higher education. Despite growing interest, existing initiatives
remain fragmented. FEKS addresses this gap by establishing a coherent faculty structure
that integrates research, teaching, documentation, and global outreach.

3. Vision and Mission

Vision: To establish Sri Sri University as a global centre of excellence for Eastern
Knowledge Systems.

4. Academic Structure
The Faculty is organized into eight specialized Schools, each focusing on a domain of
knowledge rooted in Eastern traditions. Each School has been developed with clear
academic objectives and program structures and includes its own set of modules, credit
plans, and thematic areas. They work in unison to offer a comprehensive academic
journey grounded in Eastern Knowledge Systems (EKS) and inspired by Sri Sri
University’s holistic education ethos.

5. Research Focus

FEKS will focus on doctoral and post-doctoral research, interdisciplinary research
centres, and the development of an IKS/EKS research methodology framework.

6. Flagship Program
A 7-Day Eastern Knowledge Immersion Program is the flagship experiential offering,
conducted across Sri Sri University, Bodh Gaya, and the Art of Living International
Center, Bengaluru.

Objectives

• To systematise and transmit Eastern Knowledge Systems through rigorous research.
• To promote interdisciplinary scholarship rooted in classical frameworks.
• To develop globally accessible learning pathways.
• To nurture scholars and leaders grounded in civilizational knowledge.
