General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is an undergraduate program that combines both nursing and midwifery disciplines. The comprehensive curriculum trains students to become nurses and midwives who can provide basic nursing care to patients and assist in childbirth.

During the course, students learn about various nursing and midwifery topics such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal and child health nursing, community health nursing, and psychiatric nursing.

  1. Minimum age is 17 years. (as on 31st December of the admission year) The upper age limit is 35 yrs. For Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) & Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP); Advanced Midwifery Practitioner (AMP); Lady Health Visitors (LHV), there is no age bar.
  1. Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:
  • 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and passed English individually from any recognized board.
  • Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by the State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by the Central Government.
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health Care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre
  • For Registered ANM with pass mark.
  • For SC/ST candidates 5% relaxation of total marks.
