Sri Sri Centre for Advance Research in Water Resources & Environmental Management
Duration: 2 month
Schedule: Weekend Evening (Saturday and Sunday) 2 hours/ day
Scope:
Development is a continuous process and its pace is comparatively high especially in developing countries. Developmental activities have always been considered harmful to the environment. Hence the concept of a sustainable development is evolved so that a coherence can be struck between development and environment. EIA Study is one such tool that essentially follows the approach of sustainable development. In India, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification was issued in 1994 by Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (erstwhile Ministry of Environment and Forests) with an objective to minimize the adverse impacts of developmental projects. As per EIA notification 2006, there are 39 sub categories of the development projects, which necessarily require EIA studies for the clearances. Presently more than 180 consultant organizations have been working in various areas across India. The EIA Studies provides ample opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship to the students working in the field of environment. Given the emerging environmental issues (climate change, pollution, developmental activities) and its sensitivity in the future, it can be expected that we will need more and more environmental professionals.
As a part of a university, we can provide one such employable skill development platform for young professionals and students. In this type of certificate course, aspirants will not only be trained about EIA regulation, reporting, accreditation, and survey, but also they will be trained on how to get entry into consultant organizations as a trainee and experts.
