A one-day workshop on ‘Upskilling the Youth on Commercial Beekeeping’ was organized by the Department of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture

The Department of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture at Sri Sri University organized a one-day workshop on ‘Upskilling the Youth on Commercial Beekeeping’ on March 14th, 2023. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Chitta Ranjan Satapathy, ICAR emeritus scientist.

Beekeeping is an essential part of agriculture and has been practiced for centuries. Commercial beekeeping is the practice of keeping bees for the purpose of producing honey and other bee products on a large scale. It is an important industry that provides employment to many people around the world.

The workshop was aimed at upskilling the youth on commercial beekeeping. The youth are the future of the industry, and it is essential that they are trained in the latest techniques and practices. The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including bee biology, beekeeping equipment, honey production, and marketing.

However, beekeeping is not without its challenges. The industry is facing many issues, including colony collapse disorder, pests, and diseases.
