The main motto behind the establishment of the Sanskrit course in Sri Sri University is to develop it as one of the world’s best education and research center for Sanskrit and other Indic studies to provide ‘Best of East and Best of West’ to the world in the field of education.

  • Actively involving students in scripting the ‘Natya’ (Sanskrit drama) which is an interdisciplinary activity that also adds value to the students’ degrees.
  • Get first-hand exposure to teaching the Vedas to boys at the Gurukul located within the campus premises preparing them, in turn, to fulfill their civic and cultural responsibilities.

The main objective of the course :

  • Balanced syllabus comprising significant aspects of Sanskrit and at par with other national universities
  • The syllabus is compatible with UGC NET and other competitive examinations.
  • Interdisciplinary approach (includes courses like Yoga and Communicative English)
  • Extension activities like Certificate course in Basic Sanskrit Learning and Basic Sanskrit courses for other departments in the university.
  • Academically qualified teachers regularly engaged in Teaching, Evaluation, Research, and Extension activities.

The mission of the course is :

  • To inculcate in our students a perfect blend of our ancient knowledge and ethics and the latest modern methods and techniques of language study.
  • To provide confidence and opportunity to the young generation to create innovative paths of wisdom by applying the core knowledge of our ancient Sanskrit literature to their fields of interest or expertise.
  • To enhance the all-round development of all branches of Sanskrit learning and its allied studies as well as to preserve and uplift the philosophical and scientific elements in the knowledge systems of these languages.

Course Details

 

  • The Sanskrit Department plays a crucial role in living up to the university’s beliefs of combining ethics and modern education.
  • Students are taught to read and write in the Devanagari script, thus enhancing their skills in making digital posters, composing poems, and writing theatre scripts in Sanskrit.
  • The well- balanced practical and theory sessions of the course provide vast possibilities for students to dive deep into the field of research in Sanskrit, both nationally and internationally.
  • The students are not just confined to translating literature but can massively contribute to the fields of music, mass media, tourism, and teaching.
  • Curriculum Strength – LOCF (Learning Outcome Curriculum Framework) based, Competitive Exams Oriented Syllabus, Unique combination of Special Electives in Sanskrit Communication, Yoga, Environment in Sanskrit (Vriksha Ayurveda), English Communication and Computational Sanskrit.

  • 2 Specializations are offered: Literature & Grammar (Sahitya & Vyakaran).

  • To analyse the history of Vedic literature for identification of the key features of its language and subject matter

  • To communicate in English and Sanskrit languages proficiently and can relate the theoretical knowledge with its practical usage on subject matter
  • To become proficient in basic yogic practices and acquire knowledge of use of medicinal plants as used in Ayurveda
