The university ensures that it not only provides facilities for popular modern sports like cricket, basketball, football, table tennis, badminton, volleyball and lawn tennis but it also encourages traditional Indian sports like kabaddi.
Sporting Events
In addition to maintaining sports complexes, grounds and sports infrastructure the University also organizes many sports events throughout the year.
SSU Premier League, whose concept has been derived out of IPL.
Collympics is an intra-university, week-long annual sports fest of the university conducted by students under the mentorship of their faculty members. This event both invites enthusiasm as well as witnesses the huge participation of the students, staff, and faculty.
Orion Sports is the sports event which accompanies the annual cultural festival Orion.

The university sports clubs on the campus ensure that they engage the students in both athletic as well as recreational sports activities.
Wellness & Fitness
Not just athletics and sports, we are big on wellness and fitness as well. Be it gymming, yoga, meditation you can find students and faculty alike spending a substantial amount of their time on their overall wellness and wellbeing.

We love spending time outdoors and in nature.
Be it cycling around the picturesque landscape around the university, going trekking in the mountains around the campus or taking nature walks along the various Mahanadi river fronts and canals right across the campus.
Our Coaches
University coaches ensure that our teams train in the best possible manner and are ready to compete at both the national as well as state level tournaments.
There is a structured program for sports-activities and the university has signed a memorandum with the Centre of Sports & Management Studies (CS & MS) -a Kolkata-based academy.
Under this platform, students are encouraged to participate and are provided with proper coaches for each sport. The university is focusing on building a national-level team and a state-of-the-art playground.
